The Scamps: The Scamps provide a saloon-punk style of music that will get you dancing right from the starting note. Don’t be surprised when their catchy lyrics will be in your head all day (I fear if the M.O.D is true/They’ve got a murder council too). Steve Dave’s guitar solos crunch over Power Dave’s gnarly keyboard solos. Doesn’t sound sweet enough? Drummer Jonah Livingstone of Ramming Speed will be the guest-drummer of their set.

Mornin’ Old Sport has been out of Mass since playing at last year’s DIY Fest, and in that time they’ve moved out to the Bay area (California, that is) and released, just yesterday, their new full-length LP, which is self-titled. You can listen to the full album streaming here!

They will be back this year to play the acoustic stage!!

PILE will be playing the electric stage this year! Veterans of the music scene in Boston, they‘ve been playing since before most college students arrived. Check out this AWESOME WECB interview and performance of “Came as a Glow” which appears on their 2010 album “Magic Isn’t Real,” followed up by “big web seven inch” which was released late last year.

What is Allston D.I.Y. Fest?

Two years have come and gone since the first ever Allston D.I.Y Fest, and we couldn’t be more excited for what is an amazing blend of musicians, activists, artists, artisans, friends, comrades, family and neighbors who will be a part of this year’s extravagant event. Founded on punk, anarcho-communist, anti-authoritarian family values, the festival is organized non-hierarchically in a series of open, transparent meetings — even YOU can join in on the planning/discussion TODAY!

Allston DIY Fest is a free, all-ages, sober festival celebrating DIY culture, freedom of individual expression, community building and alternative education, promoting a gift economy in place of money and oppressive consumerism.

What has changed? The second year expanded on the first year, and this year is building up to be the even better than last year! You’ll see a more diverse lineup of bands, a record swap, a book swap, and stimulating skill shares and workshops. This third year is about the future of the festival. While still maintaining the ethics and mantra of last year, one must recognize that every D.I.Y. fest is made unique by new waves of participation. Old friends have come back to help, but for the most part the sustainability of such a wonderful event is the first thing on the minds of the collective that put this together. Allston’s D.I.Y. culture has flourished over the past three years. We hope to see it grow even more.

OK SO I totally want to do a workshop. Things I know about and can talk about: recovery/addictions anything (I've been in recovery for years), beauty products/aromatherapy/skin care anything (I'm an esthetician), and sexuality issues such as BDSM (consent, BDSM 101), gender (Femme 101, gender spectrum, whatever), sexual assault (what is consent?/loving a survivor; etc). And GLBT anything. I have a lot of experience being queer hahaha. Anything that would maybe work?

Looks pretty sweet on first glance — everyone needs to see CreaturoS outdoors at least once before they die — and this is certainly a fun way to spend a summer Saturday in beautiful and scenic Ringer Park in Allston. Twenty-seven bands in action, all doin’ it themselves.”
